How to Check an Agent’s MEA Licence on eMigrate — Step by Step

Every week someone in Telangana pays an "agent" who has no licence at all. The defence takes five minutes and costs nothing: the Ministry of External Affairs lets you check any recruitment agency on the official eMigrate portal — before you pay, not after.

What a Legal Agent Has: the RA Number

Overseas recruitment by Indians for foreign employers is legal only through agencies registered with the Protector General of Emigrants under the Emigration Act, 1983. A registered agency holds a Registration Certificate with an RA number — ours is RA5501045, displayed on every page of this site and verifiable on eMigrate right now.

- No RA number shown = walk away. Not on a poster, not on a WhatsApp status, nowhere.

- A real RA number looks like RA + 7 digits. Make the agent read it out from their certificate, not from a forwarded message.

Step by Step: Verify on eMigrate

1. Open emigrate.gov.in on any phone browser.

2. Find the public "Look for Recruiting Agent" search (no login needed).

3. Search by the agent’s name — or better, by the RA number if they showed you a certificate.

4. Read the result: the registration status, the validity period, and the registered office address must match the agent you are dealing with.

5. Cross-check the address: a Korutla agent claiming a Delhi-registered certificate with a different office name is a red flag.

How Fake Agents Fake It

- "My licence is coming" — no such thing; either the RA number exists on eMigrate today, or the agent is unregistered.

- Borrowed numbers — they quote another agency’s RA number. Check that the NAME on the result matches the office you are standing in.

- Expired certificates — the result shows validity; a lapsed RC is as good as none.

- "Government tie-up" talk — real tie-ups appear in writing from the employer or the government body, never in a WhatsApp forward.

If the Check Fails

Do not argue, do not pay, and do warn others in your village or apartment group — that is how most victims were one message away from being saved.
