Wafid Medical Test for Gulf Jobs — Booking, Fees & Process (2026 Guide)

Every Indian worker going to the Gulf for a job must pass a medical examination at a Gulf Health Council-approved centre. This test is called the Wafid medical (formerly known as GAMCA, now run as the Wafid program). No Gulf work visa is issued without it — so here is exactly how it works.

What is the Wafid Medical Test?

The Wafid medical is the standard pre-departure fitness test for all six GCC countries — Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain. You book online, get allotted an approved centre, and complete a physical check, blood tests and a chest X-ray. The result is either FIT or UNFIT, and only a FIT slip lets your visa process move forward.

How to Book Your Wafid Appointment

1. Go to the official portal — wafid.com (beware of lookalike websites that charge extra).

2. Enter your passport details and choose your destination country — the slip is issued for that specific country.

3. Pay the online booking fee — USD 10 (about ₹1,300 including taxes and bank charges).

4. You receive a booking slip with your allotted medical centre and a reference number.

5. Visit the centre with your original passport, the slip and passport photos — the tests are usually done the same day.

What Does It Cost?

Two separate payments are involved: the online booking fee (USD 10) and the medical centre's examination fee, typically ₹7,000–₹8,500 depending on the city. In total, most candidates pay around ₹9,000–₹10,000 — our candidates usually test at the Hyderabad centre. Be careful of agents who quote much more than this; these are the official-level fees.

What Do They Check?

- Blood tests — HIV, hepatitis B and C, syphilis, malaria.

- Chest X-ray — to rule out active tuberculosis.

- General physical examination — fitness for work, blood pressure.

- Pregnancy test — for female candidates.

The most painful losses happen when a candidate pays for documents and processing and is then declared UNFIT. Validity and Rules

- Valid for 60 days — your visa process must complete within that window.

- Country-specific — a slip booked for Saudi Arabia cannot be used for the UAE. Confirm the destination before booking.

- Rebooking — if your slip expires or a repeat test is advised, a fresh booking is made after 2 months.
