Russia Work Visa for Indian Citizens: 2025 Guide & Employer Sponsorship

Getting a work visa for Russia involves a very different process compared to Gulf countries or Western Europe. The process is strict, particularly regarding medical tests and document translations. Here is the complete 2025 guide for Indian workers.

Step 1: Secure a Verified Job Offer

Your journey starts with a job offer from a Russian employer. Only work with MEA-licensed recruitment agencies (like Hanman Travels, RA5501045) to ensure the offer is genuine. You will sign an employment contract detailing your salary, working hours, and accommodation.

Step 2: The Work Invitation (Приглашение)

This is the most critical step. You cannot apply for a Russian work visa without an official Work Invitation (Priglashenie). Your Russian employer applies for this through the General Directorate for Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. This process alone takes 30–45 days.

Step 3: Medical Tests (Mandatory)

Russia has strict medical requirements for foreign workers. You must complete these tests at a recognised medical centre:

- HIV-Negative Certificate: Mandatory. Must include your passport details and have a valid validity period (usually 3 months).

- Chest X-ray / Tuberculosis Screening: You must prove you do not have active tuberculosis.

- General Fitness: Basic fitness for the trade you are applying for.

Step 4: Document Preparation and Translation

All your key documents (Passport, PCC, Medical Certificates, Educational/Trade Certificates) must be translated into Russian and often notarised/apostilled. Hanman Travels manages this complex translation process for our candidates.

Step 5: Visa Application & Stamping

Once the Work Invitation arrives and documents are translated, we submit your visa application to the Russian Embassy/Consulate in India. Visa stamping typically takes 7–15 days.

Summary of Costs (Who Pays What?)

- Work Visa & Work Invitation: Paid by the Russian employer (employer-sponsored).

- Statutory Costs: Medical tests, PCC, passport fees, and document translation are paid by the candidate.

- Service Charge: Hanman Travels charges a transparent recruitment service fee, agreed upfront before you commit.
